War Funding

Thu May 15, 2008 at 11:34:11 AM PDT

The good Congressman puts the situation plainly.

This is the vote from January 16 on war funding.  Since that time, according to Democrats.com, these Congressmembers have said they will vote against further funding of the war (which they did not do on the earlier vote):

Abercrombie, Neil, HI01
Allen, Tom, ME01
Andrews, Rob, NJ01

Arcuri, Michael, NY4

Blumenauer, Earl, OR03

Carnahan, Russ, MO03,

Cummings, Elijah, MD07

Doyle, Michael, PA14

Eshoo, Anna, CA14

Harman, Jane, CA36

Hooley, Darlene, OR05

Hinchey, Maurice, NY22

Maloney, Carolyn, NY14

McCarthy, Carolyn, NY04

Nadler, Jerry, NY08

Rangel, Charlie, NY15

Rothman, Steve, NJ09

Tauscher, Ellen, CA10

Shea-Porter, Carol, NH01

Waxman, Henry, CA30

Weiner, Anthony, NY09

The bill in question is Speaker Pelosi’s effort to pass some domestic spending together with funding for continuing the Iraq War well into the next President’s term – a “guns for butter” approach that I wrote about a couple weeks ago.

I don’t know about you but I think this is past endurance.  As the Democrats.com article says,

We are outraged because this Democratic Congress was elected to end the occupation, not fund it forever. A new Democrats.com poll found an overwhelming 68% of Americans want to bring our troops safely home within 6 months - a significant increase from 54% last September.

I’m picking up my phone now.
